Questions to Think About

Take the time to review the following list of questions before completing your IYBiz.com Quote Wizard application. These questions are meant to help guide you through the process of finding the best coverage for your needs.

Homeowners
Many homeowners get a policy at the time of closing. They make improvements to their home over the years without increasing coverage. Have you raised you limits to their proper level?

Have you taken a video of your contents and taken it away from you home?

Have you considered that you might need coverage for workpeople at your house? For example, should an uninsured window cleaner, cleaning person or handyman injure themselves at your house, would they be covered?

Business
Are the owners of your business covered on the Workers Compensation Policy, or are they excluded? We encourage owners and officers to be covered! Often these principals fall into relatively inexpensive job categories (clerical, outside sales).

Have you thought about Employee Dishonesty limits? How much exposure do you really have?

Do you need Employee Practices Liablility Insurance (EPLI)?

Do you back up your computer? Please, do it and take the back-up off site!

Do you have a large amount of goods in your vehicles at any one time? Transit coverage includes your personal property and materials for a job. What limit does your business need?

Will you incur a short-rate penalty on your policies if you cancel mid-term? We have this discussion with prospective clients every day, when our coverage and pricing are better. Many companies do not short-rate, others do. Companies do not short-rate when they cancel for non-payment or other reason. You may need to ask your current agent before your switch. You really need to think about this issue, as we do not want our clients to incur penalties.

If you have had a claim, how have you improved the situation? If you have rectified the situation, (bars on the windows, a central stations alarm, safety equipment) please note this in the comments on our application.

What is an Experience Modification Factor (MOD)?

Experience Modification Factor or (MOD) is an adjustment to Manual Premium, calculated by a rating bureau such as NCCI, based on historic loss and payroll data of a particular insured. The experience mod is calculated based on past loss experience for the three latest completed policy terms, thus excluding the most recent policy term. The mod is calculated each year.

Life Insurance
Have you given thought to business perpetuation? What will happen to your business without you? It is important to have a plan. Some clients have arrangements with other like businesses. Other clients have "Key Man" life policies. Term Life Policies are very affordable and offer level term premiums for up to 30 years.

Business Auto
Do you need Drive Other Car Coverage? This coverage is for anyone who drives company insured vehicles, who doesn't have personal auto coverage. Should a business owner go to Florida and rent a car personally, he/she should have personal coverage through another policy to cover him/her.
